2015 Orkney Expedition; Orkney Islands, Scotland
2 week assessment of local culture, including Neolithic sites Maeshow, Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae. Studied community fabric of Stromness; engaged Pier Arts Center, local artists and residents in examining quality of life and connectedness to the North Sea and North Atlantic.
2015 Shetland Expedition; Shetland Islands, Scotland
Studied island ferry transportation model between the islands of Fetlar, Unst and Mainland. Reviewed impact of winter storm conditions on community life and psyche via remote fishing böd.
2015 Lost Coast & Yosemite Expedition; Northern California, USA
Inquiry into unique rural communities of southern Humboldt and northern Mendocino counties. Hiked twenty miles of Lost Coast Trail exploring Redwood and coastal ecosystems. Additional pedestrian trail exploration of John Muir Trail in Yosemite National Park and Bull Creek North Trail in Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
2014 Khumbu Expedition; Khumbu Himalaya, Nepal
Cultural investigation of Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries, Sherpa villages and Sacred Sites Trail Project. Stayed alongside Sherpa families in traditional villages of Phortse and Upper Pangboche. Engaged Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, Khumbu Climbing Center and local community stakeholders.
2013 Olympic and North Cascades National Park; Washington, USA
Inquiry into spiritual significance of Shi-Shi Beach to local Makah Tribe. Analyses of alpine environment by climbing expeditions of Mt. Baker via Coleman Glacier, Liberty Bell via Becky Route, South Early Winter Spire via South Arete and Eldorado Peak via Eldorado Glacier.
2012 Normandy Expedition; Normandy, France
Traced route of Allied invasion from Omaha Beach to Carentan on foot through hedgerows, Norman villages and country roads.
2012 West Highland Way; Western Highlands, Scotland
96 mile trek on ancient drover roads through rugged Highland countryside, from Milngavie to Fort William. Researched regional interplay between urban Glasgow and rural countryside, crossing Glen Coe, Loch Lomond and Rannoch Moor.
2012 The Dingle Way; County Kerry, Ireland
7 day hike circumnavigating the Dingle Peninsula through mountains, coastline and traditional Gaelic fishing villages. Assessed local pub culture and resident’s relationship with the North Atlantic and its direct impact on quality of life.
2012 Skye Trail; Isle of Skye, Scotland
Remote navigation of Elgol Peninsula and Camasunary Bay from Glen Sligachan to village of Broadford. Based out of isolated mountain bothy conducting alpine photography of Cuillen Range and assessing trekking infrastructure.
2012 Alpine Trail Analysis; French, Swiss & Italian Alps
2 month alpine hut-to-hut trek crossing three countries exploring pedestrian-based approach to alpine living. Hiked classic trails of Tour du Mont Blanc, Haute Route, and Via Alpina (Green Route).
